The NOCORAWC recognizes that organizations acting as animal shelters or rescues have a responsibility to advocate for measures that respect or enhance the human-animal bond and that reduce or eliminate the societal problems leading to pet homelessness and abandonment.
NOCORAWC supports excellence in animal care; collaboration among member organizations and others; and a commitment to organizational excellence.
Membership requirements and minimum standards of operation for member organizations are outlined in the member agreement. The coalition has defined these membership criteria on the basis of its shared vision for promoting animal health and welfare in the community. Therefore, it requires all members to meet and maintain the established criteria. Organizations wishing to become members who do not yet meet the established membership requirements are encouraged to seek mentorship through a coalition member in order to achieve the level of excellence in operations defined by the membership criteria.
